Their Story

A FATHER.
A DAUGHTER.
A FINISH LINE.

Peter Caster was an elite distance runner — competing through high school and earning his place on the track at UMKC. Running wasn't just a sport. It was how he understood the world.

Then came Piper. At 18 months old, she was diagnosed with Rett syndrome — a rare neurological disorder that affects nearly every function of the body. It robs children of speech, movement, and independence. There is no cure.

Peter didn't stop running. He brought Piper with him. In a racing wheelchair, side by side, they've crossed finish lines in races across the country — and in doing so, they've shown the world what a father's love looks like at full speed.

ONLY 6 SPOTS.
THEY WANT ONE.

The 2027 Bank of America Chicago Marathon allows only6 duo teams — a runner and a wheelchair athlete competing together. Peter and Piper are applying for one of those spots. Although they have qualified based on time, they must still apply for one of only 6 spots.

This isn't just a race. It's a national stage for Rett syndrome awareness, and an opportunity for a little girl to be able to participate in an experience she would not  get to without her dad.Every mile they run together is a message: Peter is  leader who shows up — for his family, and for his community.

District 1 — Kansas City City Council

RUNNING FOR
A BETTER
KANSAS CITY.

In 2027, Peter Caster will be on the ballot for District 1 City Council — and Piper will be right there with him. The same determination that carries them across marathon finish lines is the same drive that will carry Kansas City forward.

The Chicago Marathon isn't just a race. It's a declaration. A father who doesn't quit on his daughter doesn't quit on his city. Peter runs toward every challenge — and Kansas City deserves exactly that.

Keep a look out for Peter and Piper knocking doors in your neighborhood — they're hitting the streets of District 1 to meet the community face to face.
